Sony MSU-900. Master Set-Up Unit for BVP and HDC series cameras. Provides centralised control for a multi camera system in any studio or OB van, in a compact, horizontal panel format

When used in conjunction with the CNU-700 Command Network unit, the MSU-900 Master Set-Up Unit provides centralised set-up and control of multiple cameras. The control panel includes switches to allow direct control of the most frequently used functions, while the adoption of a colour LCD touch screen helps to simplify the operation of its sophisticated control system. The MSU also has the ability to store data such as scene files in a standard memory stick. Control of up to 6 cameras is possible, while the CNU-700 can be expanded to 12 cameras with an expansion board. Several CNU-700s can be connected together to allow a large system (up to 96 cameras) to be controlled from a single location. The MSU-900 also includes an Ethernet interface for future IP- based control systems.

Multi camera control
Camera selection switches are provided to access up to 12 cameras. An “Expand” switch allows the maximum number of cameras to be increased to 96, if required.

Simple control interface
The combination of direct action switches, a touch-sensitive colour LCD panel, and digital rotary encoder controls provides a comprehensive yet intuitive control interface, requiring very little operator training.

Comprehensive Filing System
The MSU-900 includes the ability to store frequently used camera settings in scene files, which can be quickly recalled when required. Settings are stored within the camera head, and can be transferred between cameras if required. Scene files may also be stored on a memory stick for additional security.

“Standard” Button
The MSU-900 includes a “Standard” button, which quickly returns all cameras to a known, reference setting. This reference setting can also be customised by a user to suit their individual requirements, and stored in a reference file in the camera head

Controls various Sony camera types
When connected to the MSU through the appropriate Camera Control Unit (CCU), various camera types can be controlled through a single panel. The MSU-900 is compatible with BVP-E30 series and HDC-1500 series cameras, as well as the older BVP-500/550/570, BVP-E10, BVP-950 and HDC-900 series cameras.

Includes powerful monitoring and diagnostics features
The diagnostics system provides automatic monitoring of system status, and camera functionality. Any faults are reported on the LCD display, and also with warning lights on the panel. A character display output provides quick visibility of all operating parameters.

Dedicated control switches provide quick, easy access to frequently used parameters, while a touch sensitive colour LCD panel provides comprehensive, but easy to use, control of all other camera functions

Expandability
The MSU-900 can control a simple studio, yet by adding more CNU-700 interface units, can be expanded to a powerful central monitoring facility for a complex studio environment

Ethernet control
An ethernet interface is provided, which will allow full integration into IP-based control systems in future.
